My Journey
Helping those in need to access resources that help them thrive.

Overview & Impact
I led design at the company PAIRIN, where we were commissioned by Colorado and Virginia’s governments to create a platform to seamlessly provide state government human welfare resources to citizens.
Since being implemented as a free platform in Colorado and Virginia, thousands of people who are veterans, unemployed, underemployed, homeless, or hungry have seamlessly accessed previously hard-to-find resources that help them live.

Process
-
01
We began by forming requirements, user goals, and personas based on conversations with government SMEs and feedback from potential users. We also gathered information on the resources we are offering citizens new paths to discover.
-
02
We hosted workshops and interviewed users and SMEs to flesh out user journeys and site maps that aim to accomplish user goals based on finding housing, employment, food, and other government-aid resources.
-
03
We created sitemaps and wireframes and gathered feedback about them from SMEs, users, and the team’s developers through goal-oriented and usability testing.
-
04
We then formalized branding decisions and created our initial prototypes and design system. Throughout the prototyping process, we worked with development to begin backend architecture and create the infrastructure for the front end.

Visual Design and Experience
Users create an account or sign in through the landing page. When the user creates an account, they answer a few onboarding questions that lead them into recommendations for goals and resources to pursue such as applying for food stamps, affordable housing, or disability benefits. When the user chooses a recommendation, they are offered easy steps on how to pursue this resource.
